Travel and Terrain Advice

Watch out for newly formed storm slabs. Be careful of triggering on open steep slopes with little tree cover, or where there is a sudden change in slope, or on steep slopes just below a ridge or branch ridge. Watch for avalanches from large start zones overhead, even if you yourself are on a low slope. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the generated avalanche is small.

概要

Avalanche

No observation report due to low number of people entering the mountain yesterday.

Snowpack

On the southerly steep slopes, 30-50 cm of snowfall with strong westerly winds from the 2nd is expected to be on top of crusts, and on the northerly slopes, on top of old snow that has been settling.

Weather

As of 4:00 pm, 5 cm of snow had fallen in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara. Snow is still falling in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies with occasional sunshine until late afternoon due to the influence of a pressure trough and moist air, although the area will be gently covered by high pressure.
