Travel and Terrain Advice

Watch out for unstable snow present in certain areas, such as isolated terrain, extreme geometries or very steep slopes. If you raise the elevation, there may be places where the hard snow surface formed by the previous strong winds is hidden. Keep an eye out for changes in snow conditions. Also, when visibility is poor, it is difficult to obtain information to judge the situation. Think about what kind of terrain is in your area, and whether there are any outbreaks. The terrain is not yet buried, so don't forget the early season hazards, such as holes in the bottom of the swamp, lower branches of trees, and bushes.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday, a large number of point avalanches of size 1 were observed in the below treeline.

Snowpack

In the below treeline, the snow until yesterday morning has settling due to the rising temperature during the day. The snow in the previous stormy weather on the lower layer is also proceeding steadily with sintering and settling, and the lower layer has a stable structure. Also, due to the violent winds a few days ago, a particularly hard snow surface has formed from the vicinity of the forest limit to the upper part. This is a good sliding surface for avalanches, so you need to be careful when there is a lot of snowfall in the future.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts rain, early afternoon snow, and a maximum temperature of 5℃ (elevation 13m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1310m), there was a temperature of -5℃ (as of 6:00), 7 cm in the last 12 hours and 7 cm snowfall in the last 24 hours.
