Travel and Terrain Advice

Those who increase the elevation should be aware of surface avalanches of wet snow that occur on steep slopes that are strongly affected by rising temperatures and solar radiation. This avalanche is so heavy that even if it is small, it can easily scoop underfoot and cause the person in action to fall. If there is a trap below the slope of a terrain trap, such as a cliff that could fall, or an obstacle such as a tree or rock that could crash, it could be a serious outcome. Also, when entering the valley, always pay attention to your upward direction, be wary of slopes with glide cracks and falling snow blocks, and do not stay under such places. The weather is slowly downhill. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (March 26) there was no report of a the new avalanche.

Snowpack

Yesterday there was weak rainfall during the day and some snowfall at high altitudes. At low altitudes, the effects of rainfall have less influence on the snow cover, but in higher elevations, it is necessary to be aware of avalanches that occur due to yesterday's fresh snow losing strength due to today's temperature rise and the effects of solar radiation.

Weather

Japan Meteorological Agency predicts southern wind, daytime, north wind, sunny, sometimes cloudy, high temperature 17℃ (altitude 13m) for Joetsu region in Niigata Prefecture. The temperature is -4℃ (as of 5:00) at Myoko Sasagamine (altitude 1310m).
