Travel and Terrain Advice

Beware of triggering from areas with thin snowpack on steep slopes. Beware of avalanches from the upper avalanche start zone even if you are on a low slope yourself. There are many exposed "terrain traps" such as rocks and gullies where even a small avalanche can cause extensive damage. Be careful of collisions with rocks thinly concealed by snowfall. Sunny forecast. Please be aware of changes in snow cover conditions due to solar radiation on steep southerly slopes.

概要

Avalanche

No reports of new avalanches observed yesterday due to poor visibility; multiple naturally occurring slab avalanche size 2s were observed on the north to east facing slopes between 2600m and 2800m on the 19th.

Snowpack

Faceted snow was observed at the top of the crust that was buried about 50-100 cm below due to the stormy weather until yesterday, and it is gradually bonding. However, since this layer has been loaded by yesterday's wind-driven snowfall, care should be taken to avoid triggering the layer from shallow areas of snowpack. This layer is most likely the boundary of the naturally occurring slab avalanche on the 19th.

Weather

The temperature at 2380m as of 7:00 am is -2°C and the snow depth is about 100 cm. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies with high pressure.
